Woke up to a frozen window pane
Rust on the heater got nowhere to stay
January swallowed every word I saved
The ceiling cracks and I count 'em all again
Quiet hum of a fridge that knows my name
Fingers numb but my head is split with blame
Something in the static says hold tight
Don't quit before the light
I will get through the winter somehow
Lean on the hollow and shout it out loud
Let the cold do its worst I won't fold
I will get through the winter I know
Every dead tree still has roots down below
I will get through the winter myself
Nobody else
Pile of sweaters on a broken chair
Phone bill unpaid and I don't even care
Snow piles up like the questions in my hair
Streaks of salt on the pavement and I stare
Last night dreamed I was talking through a wall
Woke up shaking but I stood up through it all
Something in the static says hold tight
Nightmare fades when you don't fight
I will get through the winter somehow
Lean on the hollow and shout it out loud
Let the cold do its worst I won't fold
I will get through the winter I know
Every dead tree still has roots down below
I will get through the winter myself
Nobody else
April hides in the dull ache of my spine
Tucked beneath the frost I still got spine
Hear the meltwater beneath the frozen ground
Nothing stays buried forever I found
I will get through the winter somehow
Lean on the hollow and shout it out loud
Let the cold do its worst I won't fold
I will get through the winter I know
Every dead tree still has roots down below
I will get through the winter myself
Nobody else
