You use the present simple for a fact and when it’s true:
I know that you are lovely, and you know that I love you.
You use the present simple when you talk of frequency
I often say I’m busy but you always say you’re free
You use the present simple to make the past more real
‘So he sits down, picks up his fork and says: ‘“Enjoy your meal!”’
You use the present simple for something that depends
If you find it hard to understand, I’ll explain again
And sometimes you can use it for a scheduled future time
The train arrives at eight, then it leaves at half-past nine
You use it for an action that you see:
“He shoots… He scores! That’s three!”
The simple present needs a little exertion
You need to add an ’s’ to the third person
The simple present will make you proud
Just don’t use it for something that’s happening right now
When you need to make a question you use the word DO
“Do you like this?”, “Do you want that?” and then “What do you do?”
DO becomes a DOES with HE, SHE or IT
Like: “Does it walk?”, “Does she talk?”, “Does he baby-sit?”
The negative of DO is DON'T, the negative of DOES is DOESN’T
The verb TO BE is a bit bizarre, with AM, IS and ARE
The simple present needs a little exertion
You need to add an ’s’ to the third person
The simple present will make you proud
Just don’t use it for something that’s happening right now
Don’t use it for something that’s happening right now
No, don’t use it for something that’s happening right now!
