On Christmas Eve,
In ‘93,
The Smiling Critters bickered.
Oh, how they pled,
All tucked in bed,
“Can’t Christmas get here quicker?”
‘Til CatNap cheered,
“Leave this to me!”
Exhaled with glee,
And lied in wait.
Counting as they fell asleep,
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven...
(*THUMP*) (*Festive fainting*)
... Eight?!
Oh, no… what have I done?!
CatNap looked for the source of the crash,
What did he find? What did he see?
Jolly Old Saint Nicholas,
Knocked out cold beneath the tree!
He couldn’t wake him from his nap,
And Christmas was almost here...
So he borrowed Santa’s hat and his toy-filled sack,
And he hitched up Santa’s reindeer!
(They looked a little strange, there was no life in their eyes,
‘Til he turned the sled’s key, and they took to the skies!)
Ride on, Ride on, CatNap Claus!
Through the silent night.
Just as good as Santa was,
At makin’ Christmas merry and bright!
You can do it, CatNap Claus!
You’ll figure it out on the way.
Santa’s fate rests in your paws,
Give all his gifts by Christmas Day!
A Huggy Doll for Kissy…
A Kissy Doll for Huggy, too…
Givin’ toys to toys seemed a bit iffy,
But what else could CatNap do?
A Gumball machine for Candy Cat,
A Dancin’ Flower for Catbee!
A Disco ball for Boogiebot, for Bunzo, more hats!
For Pianosaurus, extra keys!
(Mommy Long Legs grabbed for CatNap, fast asleep and alone,
So he gave her a doll as he left home sweet home!)
Ride on, Ride on, CatNap Claus!
Through the silent night.
Just as good as Santa was,
At makin’ Christmas merry and bright!
You can do it, CatNap Claus!
You’re already well on your way.
Santa’s fate rests in your paws,
Give all his gifts by Christmas Day!
Secret Agent Spy Gear for Rabie,
An Invisible Ink pen for Poe,
For Allister, a pillow pal, maybe?
And an easy bake for Maggie Mako!
For Simon, a talking mirror,
Touille got CatNap’s mail again? (WHY?!)
For Icky, injury makeup to throw races clearer…
And for Baba, 50 NIGHTMARES AS REVENGE!
(CatNap realized 50 Nightmares was a little too mean,
So he gave her a half-nightmare, half-pleasant dream!)
(And a book.)
Ride on, Ride on, CatNap Claus!
Through the silent night.
Just as good as Santa was,
At makin’ Christmas merry and bright!
You can do it, CatNap Claus!
A good night’s rest ain’t far away.
Santa’s fate rests in your paws,
Give all his gifts by Christmas Day!
CatNap’s journey had come to an end,
With nothin’ left to give to his critter crew.
But when he walked back to his sleeping friends,
He saw gifts ‘round the tree, and Santa placin’ em too!
“Did you help me deliver? Thank goodness!!”
Santa looked extremely relieved.
“You poor orphans living down here must have so much stress!”
“But I’m glad that you all still believe…”
Santa took a little gift out from the coat that he wore,
Gave it to CatNap with a tear in his eye,
As he spoke with a sigh,
“I wish I could do more…”
Then, lightning-quick,
Good old Saint Nick,
Bolted for his sleigh.
Spotlights glowed,
On the lawn below,
As he hopped in and dashed away…
CatNap put his present on,
Moon-Shaped earplugs that worked great!
Counting Sleeping Critters with a yawn,
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven…
(*yawn*)... eight.
