Thank You

Today I felt a hug from seven years ago It traveled through the quiet, soft and slow I didn’ t hear a footstep, I didn’ t see a face I felt a hand upon my shoulder, And suddenly she’ s in the place. I remember she was lost, sunken in her anxiety Worrying about a future she was struggling to see She was anxious, she was scared, marching in the dark But she never turned around, instead she fought so hard. She reached across the years from the darkest end, But her power pulsed through me when she took my hand. For the first time, I feel like I am truly caught By someone awesome, giving everything she’ s got. I’ ve spent so much time trying to recognize myself. No matter how hard I try, I never paint that image great. Yet, girl, look at you. You look terrified. You look completely lost... Youdidn't know howwe'd make it, but you marched on anyway. She reached across the years from the darkest end, But her power pulsed through me when she took my hand. For the first time, I feel like I am truly caught By someone awesome, giving everything she’ s got. Now girl, let me hug you back. You gotta believe me on what I am about to say. What you thought was humble, is actually a gem. I am telling you now, from a place where I can validate: So march on, girl...you'll be fine, andyou'll be great. Thank you, girl. I love you. And I hope you love yourself all the same.
