Sister

Music: Aimee Carty They'd asked you what you like, and you said what my sister's having same new bike, same new shoes When you were four and I was six or seven always right,Β in your eyes and on I led the way with pride, those years ago It turned to night close out the door curl up in bed but leave on the light we'd read books you'd read yours and I'd read mine but I'd help you with the words you didn't know Oh I still see you at the edge of your bed with your freckles and those curls on your head I never thought I'd learn so much from you and for the most part I'm just proud but I guess a part of me thought it'd always be the other way around I never thought I'd learn so much from you I guess I thought I knew it all I'm sorry I'm just not as great as both of us had thought when we were small They'd asked you what's your name and you'd look at me and you'd stand behind see you were shy the year that you were turning seven I was nine But you soon grew to be quite talkative and grew to be quite sure dosen't seem all that long ago when we were both sat on the floor when we drew pictures of places that we'd visit in our dreams turned into stories then to poems when you were twelve and I fourteen the year I realised I wasn't always right and that one hurt I always thought that I knew more and that was just the way it worked cause I still see you at the edge of your bed with your freckles and those cruls on your head I never thought I'd learn so much from you and for the most part I'm just proud but I guess a part of me just hoped it'd always be the other way around I never thought I'd learn so much from you I guess I thought I knew it all I'm sorry I'm just not as great as both of us had thought when we are small and I know I'm probably sounding selfish and I'm probably sound a fool cause of course I want the whole world wide and open for you too I was just much better as a younger older sister I hope that it's okay that for a moment I just missed her But I know how far you'll go I don't know it all But I know it's lovely who we are though it's so lovely who we were when we were small
