1617: II. The River

Lyrics: Aden Neuwirth Music: Aden Neuwirth [Spoken Word Poem] I stumble upon a river, one I haven’t seen At peace with itself, and at peace with the trees It ebbs and it flows, it gives the plants life The river has not one worry or strife
Yes I wish to be the river, so tranquil and smooth I’m rough like a rock, and dark like the moon But the river reflects all the light that is shone The river gives life, to things that are old
I come to river, some months after June The rivеr is trapped, in the land it once knеw A wasteland of ice is what it became Oh why can’t the river, just stay the same?
I come back again, right after March The river breathes life once again but I thought How could the river just flow once anew? Though life is reborn, there was pain it ensued
I realized the river is just like us all It flows and it flows, through Spring and through Fall But in Winter, it freezes and pushes through March Until it is once reborn again
Yes I am the river, I flow and I flow At peace with the world and all of it’s love The pain is a part of me, I will always know That the ice that I hated, melts and allows things to grow
